I’ve been playing the guitar for 25 years including experience as an orchestra musician on a cruise ship: a challenging gig that requires a good knowledge of many different styles and strong sight reading abilities. I offer structured lessons that take students through folk chords in the first position, barre chords, scales, and from there, along a path dictated by the student’s interests and abilities. This can range from; equipping the student with the skills necessary to write their own songs; a study of the blues rock genre as exemplified by the likes of Eric Clapton; acoustic blues in the style of Robert Johnson; jazz guitar and the art of improvisation; delving into the classical guitar repertoire and learning how to perform from sheet music.

I also offer guitar and ukulele lessons for children. My approach, particularly with younger children, is to get them learning songs they know and love. This could be songs from films or pop music.

I am able to help students who are studying towards ABRSM, Rockschool, Trinity, LCM or RGT grades 1-8. I also have an enhanced, up to date DBS check enabling me to work with children, a Safeguarding certificate (2019) and Public Liability Insurance.

Please do get in touch for any further info. I look forward to hearing from you.
